March Is Indiana Disability Awareness Month – People, Not Punchlines

Writer's picture: Portals LLCPortals LLC

Here in Indiana, we use the month of March to bring awareness to those with disabilities. The Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities has created a wonderful campaign with the tagline 'People, Not Punchlines'.

Did you know that roughly 19% of Hoosiers have a disability? What can you do to help bring awareness? The campaign is all about promoting the independence, integration, and inclusion of all people with disabilities. If you want to do more, do more! Research on what events are in your area, volunteer, and research what to do and what not to do for different types of disabilities. There is so much to be done, and by you even being here on this post, you have taken a step in the right direction.

To learn more about the campaign, what you can do, and how to get FREE materials (posters, flyers, stickers, etc.) for you to hang up in the office or pass out, visit the Indiana Disability Awareness Month website.
